The “Ornamental Hermit” of Regency...
May be as a homage to the long forgotten Ancient wild men of the woods, the Druids, the Green-man, the Monks living in Solitude, but some how, in Georgian England, it became the Rage, to have an “Ornamental Hermit”. One would advertise, and hire a Hermit, place them on there land, provide them with some accessories, such as a human skull, Old Leather bound tomes, and require that the Hermit not shave, a long grey beard being preferred in this “Occupation”, often a requirement of the job.
