Second Life - a world in decline?

General Discussion

I remember reading a similar article about the supposed decline in SL. While I am firm that the roleplaying aspect is growing (not only the historical RPs, but others) Second Life is at the point of a gradual decline. In my opinion, I think LL should be more concerned about developing, promoting and, yes, investing in innovation rather than raising rates. Should SL want to grow - and I'm sure they do - they have to come up with ways to make it more stable. The grid is one of the biggest problems, though it has improved. Perhaps they should reintroduce some of their former policies with huge regulation (i.e. gambling, banking) although that would never happen. Even if there was a way to promote and oversee virtual microlending. I do love SL (when I'm able to get on) but it's still has a long way to go. Better than the competition, for sure.

Period Clothing Options for Mesh Bodies! Twelfth Night Designs! (UPDATED)

Apparel

LOVE LOVE LOVE! I have been anxiously waiting for someone to make pre-modern dresses for mesh bodies. I use TMP. I LOVE it, but now I realize there are not that many designers who cater to a more...formal...taste.

A 'Modern' Court?

Communty News & Events

As I continue to write the backstory - or book? - for Le Nouveau Regime, I wanted to start planning on the recreation of 1950s Paris. Taking cues from some individuals, it is best to start small. I wanted to create a space that wasn't too generic (no Eiffel Tower or Arc de Triomphe) but still appropriate for the time setting. After looking at possible spaces I decided to go with Place Vendome. For those who do not know it is a plaza located in the 8th arrondissement. By the 1950s it served as temporary and permanent residence for both aristocrats and arrivistes;the Hotel Ritz Paris is located in the plaza.

Ideally, the in-world space would have the hotel as the main attraction. Similar to Hotel Adion in 1920s Berlin, the 1950s hotel would serve as a social and residential space, with the possibility of recreating some of the famous rooms (Imperial Suite, Windsor Suite - if I can find the damn pictures!) There could also be unfurnished rental space around the plaza for residential and commercial.

Thoughts?

I'm leaning towadd the latter, as alternative timelines appear to not be as popular.

Indeed! But there's something about '50s Paris that captivates the mind, body and soul.

A 'Modern' Court?

Communty News & Events

Hello everyone! I hope all is well! So, I have been thinking about some sort of fictional Court set in the modern era. I am thinking 1950s, French-inspired space. I wanted it to be a space where Court rituals were still upheld but in a more 'modern' space. Dior with tiaras; Court intrigue with cars than carriage. Should interest be long-term and successful, I am hoping to have a full city where residents where live and businesses will thrive. (The other option for the region is to make it a project set in 1950s Paris.) Thoughts, suggestions, and comments are most welcomed!
