The Family, or, How I learned that my Elders planned for me to marry an English Fop. "Memoirs of an 18th-Cent.Werewolf"
Bloggers' Corner
Parental expectations are not very different today than when I was growing up in the eighteenth century. Elders want only the best for their children a good education, a good marriage in short, success. Back in those days, however, the options available to women were, shall we say, not particularly diverse. As an impoverished Welsh nobleman, my father intended for me to marry an Englishman of means to secure the family finances. What he didnt know and I only suspected was that I hadnt any interest in men at all, English or otherwise.
There was something else I didnt suspect either. If you watch werewolf films regularly, you will certainly know that when dogs and horses go berserk, it generally means that something awful is about to happen. Unfortunately, on that bright October day in the Year of Our Lord 1748, I had no inkling that the animals terrified reaction to my presence meant that my life was about to change so profoundly that the issue of marriage was about to become quite irrelevant.
