The Library, or, How I found the History of the Llewellyn Clan and learned of a mysterious Family Curse

Bloggers' Corner

After the near-fatal accident with the horses, I received an unexpected concession from Father: permission to use his library, which had previously been strictly forbidden. Being a rebellious thirteen-year-old, I naturally began searching for prohibited books, especially if they were seditious or smacked of Popery. What I discovered, however, was an ancient tome, secured against opening by a massive seal bearing the Llewellyn crest. Never having been one to observe such proscriptions, I broke the seal and began reading what proved to be a family history in manuscript, the earliest entries dating back to the twelfth century. Picking my way through the difficult Latin text, I learned that other girls named Andronica had lived before me, and that all had met with mysterious and horrible fates. The last had been burnt at the stake apparently for witchcraft exactly a hundred years ago to the day.

To learn the circumstances leading to the grisly execution of my namesake, Andronica Llewellyn (1610-1648), go to www.AndronicaLlewellyn.com and select "Chapter 2" from the Chapter Selector on the right side of the page.

The Family, or, How I learned that my Elders planned for me to marry an English Fop. "Memoirs of an 18th-Cent.Werewolf"

Bloggers' Corner

Thank you.It was all rather unpleasant at the time, but with more than 250 years of hindsight, things don't seem too bad now in retrospect. Much more to come!

The Family, or, How I learned that my Elders planned for me to marry an English Fop. "Memoirs of an 18th-Cent.Werewolf"

Bloggers' Corner

Parental expectations are not very different today than when I was growing up in the eighteenth century. Elders want only the best for their children a good education, a good marriage in short, success. Back in those days, however, the options available to women were, shall we say, not particularly diverse. As an impoverished Welsh nobleman, my father intended for me to marry an Englishman of means to secure the family finances. What he didnt know and I only suspected was that I hadnt any interest in men at all, English or otherwise.

There was something else I didnt suspect either. If you watch werewolf films regularly, you will certainly know that when dogs and horses go berserk, it generally means that something awful is about to happen. Unfortunately, on that bright October day in the Year of Our Lord 1748, I had no inkling that the animals terrified reaction to my presence meant that my life was about to change so profoundly that the issue of marriage was about to become quite irrelevant.

To find out what happened, go to www.AndronicaLlewellyn.com andselect Chapter 1 from the Chapter Selector at the right-hand side of the page.
