I was recently in Paris for work, but unfortunately JUST missed the opening of this fabulous new exhibition (which I am hoping to catch when I return in October).
The exhibition looks at fifty pieces from modern fashion designers who have been inspired by the eighteenth century - including well-known fans like John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood, and less obvious choices such as Nicolas Ghesquire of Balenciaga and Azzedine Alaa.
The exhibition is based in the Grand Trianon, and contrasts these inspired garments with actual eighteenth-century pieces to illustrate the often direct insipriation designer have taken (Westwood, for one, prides herself on extensive study of original eighteenth century garments which have lead to her questioning both the way modern dress is constructed and the very ideas behind it).

If you love frocks, frock-coats and frills as much as I do, it's a must!
