On the occassion of the anniversary of Les Talens Lyriques , one of the leading baroque ensembles in Europe, conducted by the incredible Christophe Rousset have chosen to present the soundtrack of Farinelli a movie production from 1993; a wide range of baroque solo cantatas specially written for the reknowked castratos.

The cruel fate of these incredible singers with their almost supernatural skills has inspired many artists before to dedicate their work to them.

Fascinating I remeber seeing this film . Did you know there is an extant recording of the last castrato recorded on a wax disc I believe I imagine a search might bring it up
