The ball broke up with a shocking surprise - Napoleans troops are massing not far away, and our brave officers must be off to battle! My cohost Arthur Duke of Wellington, myself (Merry Chase as the Duchess of Richmond), my husband Charles Lennox, Duke of Richmond, and our eldest daughter Mary have bidden the guests adieu and stand somewhat shocked and concerned in front of the once-gay ballroom.
