Poor Mlle de Tancarville fell over in the Bassin.....Thank god the Bassins are not too deep, she sure would have drowned.....She was saved....but totaly wet......even her Make up was ruined....that Petite Mlle must have felt very emberassed....all this in front of the Queen..... I do think Mlle de Tancarville had not a good start at the Court....first too much Champagne at Mme Sophies Lunch and now almost drowned in the Presence of the Queen.
Her Majesty arranged to have a Coach to bring that poor Mlle to the Palace.....Mme de Noailles was not very amused.....it was strictly against the Court Etiquette.....Mlle de Tancarville was brought immediately to the Palace to get some dry clothes.....There were in such a hurry that they left her royal Highness Mme Sophie at the Bassins, she was upset about such a behaviour....but we followed the Coach back to the Palace
