Japan III
A quote I learned while in the Japan Islands goes as so: "Life is like a Cherry Blossom, very beautiful yet short lived." This was the creed of the Samurai warriors who inhabit that land. These men were ready and willing to die at a moments notice, yet as the quote suggests, they had taken the time to see life for the beauty that it is...regardless of how short the life of a warrior can be. In some respects, I find their views of mortality similar to my views on seafaring... The ocean will never be safe. We can be lost at sea or in combat. But to never take a risk and leave the safe harbor is to miss out on life's call. We must take these moments to enjoy our existence while we can, for it is but a fleeting candle in time that can, on a whim, be extinguished at the breaths of the four winds.
