Ancient daguerrotype unearthed
Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre invented the daguerreotype process in France. The invention was announced to the public on August 19, 1839.
However, it now seems that he experimented with this process much earlier as shown by this image of the celebrated Princesse d"Amblise and her darling, the renowned Captain Gedenspire.
The image appears to have been taken in the late 18th century at one of their country estates.
