A curious thing: we, in France give public places the name of military victories, like Place de Fontenoy, or Austerlitz station...The English, who do nothing like the others, give them names of defeats, like Waterloo station, for instance...

my dearest twin!I am shocked and appalled that you would reveal here matters that were told to you in strictest confidence!I shall now state unequivocally that I was severely wounded in the eye in the service of my country and that I have been forced to wear an eye patch to save the ladies from the sight of this horrible disfigurement. Also, my nerves are so steady that on the morning of battle I have been known to catch forty winks, don't you know.On occasion, as at Waterloo, I actually slept through most of the battle until the dastardly French commenced beating drums and lobbing shells in my immediate vicinity.Naturally, I roused myself and took a decisive part in turning the tide and beating back the last attack of the Old Guard. It is due to my innate modesty that I never crave medals or citations and prefer to conduct myself heroically in obscurity.Hope this explains matters!Huzzah!
