Madama Clotilde, Princess of Piedmont
Marie Adélaïde Clotilde Xavière de Bourbon was the sister of Louis XVI, Louix XVII and Charles X of France. Madama Clotilde, as she was called, married Prince Carlo Emanuele di Savoia on 6 September 1775. She proved to be a capable administrator, and her husband relied heavily on her counsel in governing the principality of Piedmont and later the kingdom of Sardinia.
