Marquise Couture by Karl Lagerfeld
This is a Paris Vogue sitting showcasing the S/S 1998 Haute Couture collections. I believe it's inspired by the Marchesa Luisa Casati - she inspired Galliano's S/S '98 Dior Haute Couture - which is showcased here.
I know so many of you - like me - love big frocks and bigger wigs, so I thought I would post a few images.
Galliano's ball-gowns were inspired by Casati's masquerade balls in turn-of-the-century Venice and Paris, when she would often dress as eighteenth century personages, such as the Comte de Cagliostro. The idea behind the show was Casati dressed as the Countess de Castiglione after one of her masquerade balls, reminiscing about the costumes she worn and seen throughout her life. Pretty fabulous.
