Public Notice:

Residents and visitors to the island should be advised that following the wreck of the French brig Galante on the rocks to the southeast of the island, cargo was washed ashore that is property of individuals who are (or may be) still living and is not officially subject to salvage rules. If you have rescued any of this cargo particularly goods that may be subject to significant duties please notify a member of the Guardia or the Council of magistrates so that it maybe collected and stored until final disposition is determined. With your permission, Guardia members and customs officers may search your premises beginning tomorrow in case you may have forgotten something.

Furthermore, be advised that a passenger of the ship who did in fact survive the wreck, has reported loss of his personal sea chest which may be now somewhere on the island, if you have found this box, which is somewhat large, bound with five iron bands, a lock and decorations in the oriental fashion, resembling snakes, please bring this chest to me or the Guardia. There will be a submittal reward for its return, unopened. The gentleman will pay whoever finds this chest 500L.

((yes, that's right the merchant Huang Tzal will give you a 500 L prize if you can find his sea chest. Good luck!))
