Greetings and Salutations.

As most know by now, Antiquity has been going through many changes over the past few months. Antiquity has been blessed to have some of the most creative and exceptional builders in SL. Together, we have been creating a place that is beautiful but also functional: a large roleplaying area for all to enjoy.

One thing that confuses many new visitors to Antiquity is the mix of eras and protocols in Antiquity. Let me try to explain a bit how that works.

At the moment, Antiquity has a simple protocol for addressing residents and visitors. We use simple addresses for the titles: Prince Whoever, Count Somebody, Lady Otherbody. As we start to focus now on growing and developing the courts, specific protocols will be released for each court and distributed to all members.

Since its inception, Antiquity has primarily had Nobles in the North and Pirates in the South. As pirates spanned many eras, from early times through the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, it is rather agreed that a pirate is a pirate and not time specific. The courts of SL, on the other hand, have always been time specific. This has sometimes created a problem between some Courts. Antiquity, on the other hand, does not see it as a problem at all. Antiquity represents some of the best eras of roughly a 100 year span from 1740 to 1840.

Antiquity looks at various eras (Baroque, Rococo, Regency, Victorian) and pirates not in the the terms of the time they took place, but more in terms of the cultures in which they lived. If someone lives in a Baroque area in SL, they dress and live their life in that style. They are, in essence, Baroque. Each culture dresses differently and has different manners and customs. Think of it this way: If a visitor from Japan came to England, yes, they would follow the laws and customs of England, but they would still be Japanese, still have the choice of dressing and acting Japanese. They would be welcomed as visitors who simply dressed and acted different then you. That is how we look at it. There are different cultures in Antiquity that live side by side, not different time periods mashed together.

With that in mind, Antiquity offers many an opportunity to live or rp with us and we will be opening up more rentals as well. There are different kinds of homes available here from island homes to upper scale housing around the French Gardens, and more will be added around Buckingham when it is placed. Living here has its perks. Antiquity has wonderful water for sailing and the equivalent of about 25 sims for riding horses or taking carriage rides. Also, there are many public spaces in Antiquity for all to enjoy. There are gardens and plazas, and public buildings such as the Capitol Building that can be explored and used. Even parts of Le Chateau de Clagny and Buckingham Palace will be open for the residents to enjoy, rp in, and host events in. It is no fun to have a beautiful place if nobody is allowed to use it.

We have expanded our estate area by 50% and are in the process of finishing up expansion in the sky. We have installed a 16-sim platform to create the Antiquity Forest. The Forest is filled with lots of different areas to explore. There are roads and soon carriages that will help you to get around Antiquity more easily. Le Chateau de Clagny, its gardens, and, when placed, Buckingham will all be located in the Forest.

The British Court of Antiquity will be housed in Buckingham Palace. The areas surrounding Buckingham will be designed and built in an English style, and developed into an up-scale housing area to serve the Palace and Court. A few of you may have had a tour of Buckingham and have seen some of the quality of work that both Gov. Crotian and Duchess Twelfthnight can produce. The outside of the palace has been meshed and the inside wings are next on the agenda. The Court will be ruled by King George IV and will be set in the Regency era. We are pleased to have Governor Iker de Mariala helping with the British court. The British Court in Antiquity will be self-governed and will bestow titles under the Antiquity British Crown.

Le Chateau de Clagny will house the French Kingdom of Antiquity. Built by Governor Louis Philippe d'Amblise, the French kingdom of Antiquity is a fictional countryside baroque court far from Paris and from the rigid etiquette of Versailles. The French kingdom of Antiquity is under the dominion of the Antiquity Empire ruled by Her Royal Highness Cathryn Beaumont. Her representative in the region will be a Dauphin de France. The French court in Antiquity will be self-governed and will appoint titles under the French Kingdom of Antiquity.

The British and French Courts of Antiquity will join the existing Court of Spain, the Principality of Mont Saint Bruno, and the Grand Duchy of Antiquity. Antiquity as a whole will be open to relations with other Courts and groups, exchanges of Ambassadors, and joint recognition of titles to allow greater interaction with other period estates. The French first, and then the British Courts will start holding events.

Putting this all into place has been a long process, and we are very pleased with the results. His Highness Prince Jacon, together with His Excellency Duke Crotian Egerton de Bexar and Her Grace Duchess Twelfthnight Egerton de Bexar have been helping to get Buckingham finished, and in addition to helping to build the Antiquity Palace, Governor Louis Philippe d'Amblise has been putting the final touches on Le Chateau de Clagny and surrounding area. Both Duke Crotian's work throughout the ground level of Antiquity and Buckingham, and His Excellency Governor d'Amblise's work on the Antiquity Palace and Clagny are top shelf. If you have not visited Antiquity yet, do come by and see some of their amazing work.

Moving forward, Antiquity will have a variety of different themed areas rentals that will fit the tastes of almost everyone. We have smaller tropical homes in the Port Royal area. There are some smaller rentals in the Pirate city of Oceania. There are also rentals open in the Forest. There are three chateaus around the gardens of Clagny and three apartments inside Clagny available to be rented. They come furnished, or unfurnished, with a prim allowance. For the more rustically-inclined, country cottages can also be arranged for rent in the forest.

There is also a vibrant sailing and battling community in Antiquity. We currently have battles during the week, and a weekly battle against our friends in Morgans. Admiral Pz Engineer and Commodore Contessa head up the Royal Antiquity Navy, Princess Pamus the head of the Equestrian program and we also have mermaids and Princess Tiamat Windstorm von Hirvi, the children's group led by Beatrix Muircastle, pub life led by Drezenda, and lots more. Contact any of the admins for information.

For those of the mer persuasion who wish to live undersea, apartments and caverns are available in Sea of Antiquity and MarieGalante.

For more information on rentals, courts, or even pirates in Antiquity, you can contact any of the Antiquity Administrators: Jacon Cortes, Cathryn Beaumont, Tiamat Windstorm, Pamus Bing, Pz Engineer, Contessa Wizardly, Crotian, Twelfthnight, Wiseboyqc, Edward (eddy.cannonball) Beaumont, Beatrix Muircastle, Lizbethbloodthorn,

With the new interest in virtual worlds, it's important that we preserve and sustain vibrant period "courts and pirates" lifestyle. Come and sail the waters or explore the forest. Antiquity invites all to come. There is lots to see, and many wonderful residents to meet and to create new rp relationships with.

Hope to see you soon.
