All Hallows Seeps Into Antiquity

The autumnal thinning of the wall between the worlds has begun, and in Antiquity has emerged forcefully along the northern shores of Ile Marie Galante where a kraken has reportedly been observed, harassing shipping and engaging in the apparent slow digestion of a vessel which, though possessed of twelve heavy guns, was unable to defend itself. Meanwhile, the island seems to be bereft of parrots, who perhaps have migrated in response to some unpleasant manifestations of suspected supernatural character, which may be viewed on and above the northern beaches.

Meanwhile, citizens of elegant Mont Saint Bruno, Antiquity Heights, are beginning to look nervously about themselves as odd roars and belches of mist emerge from the normally quiet peak of the mountain behind the town. A small expedition set forth on Monday evening to investigate, unfortunately equipped only for a casual hiking expedition. Wisely, the participants decided to turn back while still on the mountain's lowest reaches because of disturbing manifestations that seemed to require more substantial preparation. According to later reports, the Mont Saint Bruno manifestations are increasing daily both in number and fearfulness.

At this point, Texas seems secure, but we have received odd reports of silent visitors, both friendly and ominous in appearance, surprising guests within the new Visitors Centre at the central pier.

Whispers of strange sights and sounds are beginning to filter in from other parts of the Antiquity lands. Should you encounter one, we pray that you communicate it with all dispatch to the Antiquity Times, so that warnings can be issued for the health and safety of all.

We are in receipt of a disturbing report that the dreaded Sea Witch may have returned to Antiquity. Sailors are advised to avoid the waters between the eastern end of the island of Tahiti in Sea of Antiquity and the western side of the islet of Mustique in the southwest waters of Marie Galante, the location of the undersea cavern in which the Sea Witch headquartered herself during last year's All Hallows weeks. However, mere avoidance of those waters will not be enough to ensure safety if the Sea Witch has returned. Be cautious when accepting "favours" from strangers, as favours conferred by the Sea Witch last year had unpleasant consequences for the recipients.

A substantial portion of land in the region of Loire, Antiquity Yucatan, has recently disappeared beneath the waves. We do not know if the Sea Witch has played some role in this disaster, but some believe it may be possible. Fortunately, the chateaux in Loire's High Forest region have not been affected by the subsidence.

We have received news to the effect that the Sea Witch is not responsible for the recent subsidence of land in Antiquity Yucatan, which is now attributed to earthquake and seems much appreciated by sailors. However, she has been seen swimming in the regions of MarieGalante, Dominica, and Cambridge, and appears to have an understanding, or at least a relationship of mutual respect, with the kraken that has been threatening the strait between MarieGalante and Oceania.

The Witch made an extended visit to the sea cave beneath Ile MarieGalante. Concern has been expressed about what she may have been doing there.

Although the Witch has not been reported within Oceania, the city square appears to have been invaded by beings of dubious repute and unnatural origin. Pray exercise caution if you choose to visit the square for tonight's market.

Some dire crime appears to have been perpetrated in the drawing-room of Villa Windstorm von Hirvi beside the harbour of Mont Saint Bruno, and a quantity of valuable art has disappeared from the villa's walls and been replaced by images of the Danse Macabre and Japanese demons. The villa's owners are not sure if they have been victimized by demons, pirates, or art critics, and are also not sure which of the possibilities is the most disturbing.

Sailors should beware of a whirlpool that has developed in the waters off the northeast end of the island of Tahiti in Sea of Antiquity. The whirlpool is suspiciously close to the suspected location of the Sea Witch's undersea cavern, so the long-term effect of being sucked down may be more serious that of mere death.

Do you suppose perhaps devout observations of the Samhain holiday might appease the spirits?

That is my hope, and in fact we will be having such an observance on Samhain eve in the caldera of Ile MarieGalante. (Exact time to be posted later this week.)

Disturbances continue in Antiquity, with the oceanscape rearranging itself in Oceania - indeed, the city and its hauntings have entirely disappeared - and very worrisome reports being received of ghosts, ghouls, walking skeletons, howling fiends and hungry graves littering the path from St. Bruno Bridge to the very top of Mont St.Bruno in Antiquity Heights. Visitors are warned to touch nothing should they chose to walk the mountain path, as they may find themselves unable to leave. Indeed, the very path seems linked to unpleasant manifestations; step with care, if step you must.

well, the hauntings have disappeared - the city, although vacated by its residents, still seems to have an odd half-ghostly presence; a ghost of itself, perhaps.

Following Saturday afternoon's truly horrible event at the Chateau de Clagny - some of us may never again be able to view our neighbours with comfort - a new horror has been uncovered in the region of Cambridge: a stone maze, filled with mists and dangers both supernatural (such as the mummy who greets the unwary traveller) and physical (such as a large quantity of very determined spiders), and a great reluctance to release any who are rash enough to give in to its promises of treasure. Admiral and Commodore the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are unable to promise that this hazard will be cleared from their lands any earlier than the third day of November.

Seismic activity seems to have ended in Oceania, with three islands springing forth in place of one. New sailing charts have not yet been issued, so please take soundings as you sail through the region, and continue to keep a lookout for krakens who are likely to be more than usually bad-tempered as a result of the upheavals.
