This is an extract of Cadmus and Hermione by Lully and Quinault, in Vincent Dumeste 's production. This was the Lyrical Tragedy in which Mademoiselle de Maupin made her Opera debut in Paris.

I chose this extract for the Royal Courts Ning, because it was the one with english subtitles. For those who would want to see and hear more, there are MANY other extracts of this same masterwork of a rendition on YOUTUBE. Just go there and type Cadmus and Hermione )

hhhmmmm, Madame la Comtesse de Noailles is a real Connaisseur! The " girl with the big feather", playing Hermione, is indeed Claire Lefillatre, often singing with le Poeme Harmonique orchestra. And the one singing the part of Amour ( Cupid) in this extract, is Camille Poul.

I just read that it was produced by vincent dumestre. . .the link to le peome harmonique is evident then anyway. one should definetely post more extracts of famous operas of that time I personally think that music and art show the way of life of this past best
