Sometimes at sunrise, just before other people awake, I take a solitary stroll thru my estates. My home is vast and peaceful in the early morning hours. I walk quickly out of the Villa so to avoid the attention of the servants starting their day in the cellar, onto the dew covered Great Lawn, past the ancient obelisk and down the hill to my private gate into the port. I try to be pious and stop into the Chiesa. But I always listen silently at the door before entering. On certain mornings I hear low murmurs or even soft tears. When I hear these I don't enter and make my way down to the sleepy port and walk along the promenade instead.
I believe God would forgive me my lack of piety and my absence at early prayers to let another use my chapel. I know we all need a place quiet and secluded and even a virtual world sometimes gives us more than casual escape.
