Friday is Mawlid, the propet's birthday! The day is celebrated with parades in which men typically wear green kepis and women wear pink. Green banners are carried during the parade.
Children receive gifts of sweets made of sugar syrup, honey, and nuts. Girls' sweets look like pretty dolls. Boys' sweets look like horses. Brightly colored paper is used to mimic the clothes and saddles on the candies.
A special note:
Owing to the recent terrorist attack in Egypt, the rl parades have been canceled for fear of additional attacks. We'll begin our parade with a moment of silence by which to remember the victims.
HOW WE'RE CELEBRATING:
- Dress up! Wear green kepis or pink hijabs or abayas.
- March in the parade! We're meeting at the town square at 5pm. Don't be late!
- Observe a moment of silence in respect for the victims of the recent terror attack.
BUILD CONTEST
- Build green banners, green kepis, or pink hijabs or abayas to distribute (for free) to revelers. The best clothing item receives a 200L gift card to [DDD] ~ Dysfunctionality. it's one of my favorite in-world stores!
- Build sugar candies in the shape of small dolls or horses. Bonus points if they are animated to appear edible! The best candy receives a 200L gift card to [DDD] ~ Dysfunctionality.
- Contest entries must be full perm and given to SirCharlesMormont Resident before 5pm SLT.
