At the midnight hour, when the dauphine and most of her loose-lipped servants and noble madames have moved into a state of slumber, Louis-Auguste slips into one of her hidden rooms to measure this bit of vanity the dauphine allows herself. Of course, his Royal Highness has his own methods of bathing, so is it her exquisite tub he's wanting to test, or the essence of the former archduchesse he's rumoured to have never touched in an intimate way?
