Thank you Don Lucerius. They are a combination of pieces we made ourselves, and pikeman's armor and helmets from Cyn Vandeverre on Renaissance Island. The colors are of course the papal colors from this period -- there are no images I could find of papal guards in this period, though ones I found from slightly later id show this kind of red and gold striped livery. By the way, even though Kaspar and Ralf are Swiss, there is no "swiss guard" at this time (1530's). The Pope's "Swiss Guard" was disbanded after the sack of Rome in 1527, as part of the peace agreement between the Pope and the Holy Roman Emperor. The all swiss unit was replaced by a "papal guard" that was mostly made up of German mercenaries. The forty or so swiss guardsmen who survived the battle in 1527 (most of them were killed in a last stand that gave the Pope time to escape) were invited to join the new guard unit, but only about 11 or 12 of them applied to do so. Eventually, the Pope will be permitted to hire his own Swiss Guard again, but that is a little after this period.
Excellent uniforms, Don Aldo. They appear to be very well crafted.
