Dear Sir,Lovely ship. I am curious - do you ever see any of those dreaded pirates I hear talk of in the royal circles??? I do not know if I would pass out from fright or jump in excitement to gaze upon one of their ships.Sincerely,Leary MacPherson

Fiorino Pera de' Conti di Novello to the Noble Lady Leary MacPherson:Esteemed and dear Madama: Thank you for your solicitous remarks. As your servant is in possession of a diplomatic passport, he secured passage from Civitavecchia to Cagliari on a papal craft. We did not sight any pirates during the swift journey, but, in truth, we were more concerned about the French revolutionary fleets than we were with pirates. When I arrived in port I was told that several highly suspicious vessels had come into port for provisions the day previous. They claimed to be merchants allied with Massimo il Mercante, but their aspect did not convince. Thanking your Ladyship for the expression of concern, I remainMost sincerely yours,Don Fiorino Pera de' Conti di NovelloOrder of SS Lazarus and MauriceChief of Protocol at the Royal Court of Sardinia
