Royal Wedding exhibition

Communty News & Events

Inspired by the upcoming marriage of Prince Harry, Twelfthnight is in the process of re-creating Queen Victoria's white wedding gown for display purposes. This in turn has inspired Prince Jacon to exhibit the Crown Jewels, and me to hunt out paintings of wedding gowns through the ages (the simple white chosen by Victoria was not unheard-of in the early 1800's, but it was rare.)

Accordingly, on the weekend of May 19 - Victoria Day Weekend in Canada and some other Commonwealth countries, and right after the wedding that triggered all this inspiration -  we will be launching the Royal Wedding exhibition at Buckingham Palace in Antiquity. Stay tuned for details of the opening event!

The palace is elegant, and the sim gardens are beautiful. I had a lovely row around the lake, too. The hunt gifts are a bonus!

'Victoria' Is About To Become Your Biggest Non-Guilty Pleasure

History

Let's see, Mansur...not exactly PM, but Lady Conyngham, who became the firm bulwark between George IV's natural indolence and Wellington's desire that George do his day job, was at Lady Richmond's ball, too.

'Victoria' Is About To Become Your Biggest Non-Guilty Pleasure

History

The Irish famine episode generated tears in my real-life household, and not only for old sacrifices and economic politics. Governments in many countries are still generating malnutrition among their people through excessive consideration for the bank accounts of their well-to-do supporters. The more things change...

Downton Abbey themed role-play

General Discussion

And of course you will be very welcome at Antiquity's court events, too. The fashions will not quite be in sync, but we regard visitors from other historical periods in somewhat the same light as ambassadors from other lands - a great advantage of the fact that with George soon-to-be-IV as Prince Regent, it is impossible to take ourselves too seriously.

Tea at Conyngham House, 1:30 PM SLT, Saturday Jan. 20

Communty News & Events

Tea went pleasantly, with nothing stolen although our pirate child Beatrix Muircastle seemed to be taking a good look around. The cats were not entirely pleased by the company, though Captain Firebloom did her best to appease them. Prince Jacon of Bexar attended in the place of his nephew George, the Prince Regent, who has been somewhat troubled by gout and no doubt required the kind attention of Lady Hertford to soothe the pain. General the Marquis Conyngham was absent because of troubles in Ireland, but his lady acquitted herself well as hostess - aside from the inevitable moment when she fell from grace with a most un-genteel exposition of the economic effects of the proposed Corn Laws and their possible effects on the banking-accounts of landlords and tenants that only a banker's daughter would consider appropriate tea-time conversation.
