Tea at Conyngham House, 1:30 PM SLT, Saturday Jan. 20

Communty News & Events

After the weekly battle between navy and pirates, Lady Conyngham (Tiamat Windstorm with a little extra padding) will be hosting tea and gossip in the United Kingdom as it stands in January of the year 1815 in Antiquity. Pray contact Tiamat Windstorm inworld if you would like the LM and some notes about some of the historical happenstances we'll be gossiping about!

Artemisia Gentileschi Exhibit

Art & Architecture

Thank you, Jacon. I will certainly drop by, and will try to make it a Times editorial visit - fingers crossed, as I've almost given up on the notion of non-work writing time.

The Governors Cup ~ Memorial Tournament. (In Memory of Antiquity Past)

Communty News & Events

The hedgewitch looks at the trail markers littering the riding trail through her forest, reflects on natural succession, and decides that a few horse-droppings will be an advantage rather than the reverse. Hopefully the badger will stay well back from the path - his stubbornness is legend, but he cannot compete with rapid hooves.

Game of Thrones ~ A Song of Ice and Fire

Book Lovers

I must confess that although I LOVE GRRM's shorter works, and was engrossed in Game of Thrones throughout the first two books, I stopped reading at the end of A Storm of Swords because I was also weary of all the guts.

I haven't watched much of the series, but when this season is finished, I'm going to see if I can handle binge-watching all of it over a couple of months.

Finding and Defeating Texture Lag?

Off Topic

I wish some full-perm mesh clothing template makers would build in more faces that could be independently textured! I have a couple of gowns that I have to fight with when I want a new fabric for them. If the texture sits properly mid-chest, it warps outwards unattractively over the bottom...Of course, as a complete amateur, I don't create my own textures tailored to the template; I just edit the texture inworld. Given my highly simplistic skills, it would help if skirt, bodice and sleeves could more often be given textures independently.

We Wear Culture

History

One show I thoroughly recommend in connection with wearing culture is "State of Undress," currently running on the station "Vice" in Canada. It does a fascinating job of deconstructing fashion in the content of sociopolitical and socioeconomic reality in a diverse range of countries. The settings are modern, but history - especially colonial and postcolonial history - are included as factors in the current construction of each locale's approach to fashion.

Larl Valley: 18th Century Egyptian Living on a Stunning FULL PRIM Sim

Social Announcements & Introductions

A number of us from Antiquity greatly enjoyed your welcoming dance, and I returned for a good wander which I enjoyed very much (particularly when I was greeted by a couple of denizens - a good omen for a community-oriented future.)

Foray Literary Society notes and plans

Communty News & Events

And I may actually be able to log on for that, thanks to the statutory holiday on the 3rd. I'll need to review the text very quickly, as I read it as a hapless undergraduate (mostly between midnight and 2AM, if I recall that winter correctly), but the book is still part of my personal library.

I quite enjoy the technicalities, myself! However, the courtships of Jack and Stephen and Sophie and Diana - or if not precisely courtship, whatever it is that one must do to secure some part of Diana's attention - do indeed show the drawing-room's place in the society of the age.
