Wasn't that a Party!! ~ Thank You DECADES!!

General Discussion

It was a fantastic experience for me...and who knows where the journey goes next.

The sim will be up for at last another week....so we can all have time to explore and others from SL can discover the history in SL isn't dry and dustry "factoids", it lives as we put outselves inside the times and events recreated, imagined, made real.

Next weekend is a major holiday for people in the USA - 4th of July and Independence. Joaquim Galvez will be live on Saturday and hopefully we will have another musical live talent on Sunday. And if you didn't get to hear the custom music stream that Freda/Stephanie created for Saturday's event you missed a huge treat and maybe she can make it available this coming weekend.

It would be hard to top Freda's reading from "One Hundred Years of Solitude" or Aldo and Bajoy's recreation of the courtship of Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett or Caledonia Skytower's closing reading for the day's festival but maybe they will all come back for an encore (hint hint).

A video is in the works and as soon as the filmmaker has it ready for viewing, will post the link here. I have a hunch it will blow our socks off.

DECADES continues - New Exhibit in the Fashion Tent

General Discussion

Oh, Lord...Robijn says what he as done "isn't good enough" so he is doing another exhibit that will be "better." Knowing his extraordinary talent it will be, so stay tuned. This is there for now and it's a good memory of what happened yesterday.

DECADES continues - New Exhibit in the Fashion Tent

General Discussion

The fashion show yesterday was standing room only; the clothes and their presentation outstanding and well received. RC member Robijn (Lucien de Robion-Castellane) made some beautiful images and mounted them on panels with the script describing the fashion influences for each gown. He then mounted the result for an exhibit in the Fashion Tent. Take a peek and then visit Decades to see first hand.

Inara Pey's "Living in a Modemworld" gives DECADES and NING thumbs up!

Bloggers' Corner

Well said....the outreach was and continues to be the best result for all. I heard a good many comments along the lines of "I had NO idea!" (re presence of history projects, regions, etc. in SL)

Total lack of time meant there was no program book for the festival. I would love to get some help putting one together the includes the names of all the builders, content creators, owners who lent their things, performers, artists, etc., etc. that worked to paint the canvas and bring it to life.

I think we would be astonished to see just how big the village is and that we have a foundation to forge more connections. Maybe our 'slogan' should be "it takes a village to make a DECADE" grin

Inara Pey's "Living in a Modemworld" gives DECADES and NING thumbs up!

Bloggers' Corner

Inara's article listed the names of all of us who created buildings and/or primary exhibits. Totally my fault, two names were ommitted: Cuthbert Helendale's incredible Orient Express andSofia Von Essen's History of Hats from the mid-1500s to the Roaring Twenties.

And her list didn't even begin to count all the content creators who donated objects -- everything from planes to cars to one-of-a-kind chairs. Or the musicians, storytellers and scholars who will provide live entertainment and throughout the day.

A certain national USA politician to popularize the phrase "It takes a village to raise a child." Well, it took the members of Royal Courts to raise a virtual village. Look how many builders of the DECADES Festival region are members of RC

A lovely write up in Versus magazine about DECADES Festival with a sneak peek at fashions for the Fashion Show.

Bloggers' Corner

Elizabethan gown from L'Optimiste in all its glory!! A 1960's "Da Bomb" sheath, too. Take a look and then this Saturday come to the festival to see 11 more looks take to the runway.

This is a great write up from an excellent blogger and should generate donations from people to support Ning.

Decades Festival: All the latest from Stephanie (Freda Frostbite)

General Discussion

You will be very much missed. The sim is nearly complete thanks to the hard, hard work of many wonderful builders and creators who make beavers and elves and wand waving wizards pale in comparison when it comes to "getting it done!"
