My latest portrait - evidently completed whilst I was in mourning for my late wife (or perhaps just after I had consumed a smidge too much croquembouche - black is so slimming, I find!)
I do wish he'd found a way to include my petit D'Artagnan though. He'll be so annoyed he's excluded...

My dear nephew...you make mourning look so fashionable!!! Dare I say, smiling...death becomes you!

Ohhh you should see the portrait of our dear Comtesse Constance Zapedzki that Monsieur Trasgo executed a couple of years ago, he included her little pugs in it ... I would name them but they have impossible Polish names, I'm afraid, far beyond me! Big names for such petit dogs! But they are very sweet-looking in the portrait. I must say M LeBrun has done a beautiful job with your portrait, he captures very nicely your poise and elegant sensibilite. Tres bien!
Ah merci mesdames - I am most happy with the way it has turned out! Although I fear the wig may be last year's model (always a concern with the fast-moving pace of fashion and the slow-moving drag of the artist's brush).

I do hope D'Artagnan can be immortalised next!
My dear nephew, smiling, just have him painted in...
