"Mad King George" of England 1738-1820

Although known as "Mad King George" there are other sides to this monarch. The madness took holdlater onin his reign. He was well educated and decided to distance himself from his Hanover or German ancestry.George III wanted to devote himself to being the King of England.

And a side note, Queen Charlotte was friends with Marie-Antoinette when she became Queen. They carried on a pen pal style friendship, never meeting, but writing often. Supposedly, Queen Charlotte readied apartments for the French royal family should they escape the revolution.
