The Baron, decided to find a more permanent base on the island, as he ventures into new business propositions. To his delight, a much admired spot, the Hill Top Apartment, right next to the bell tower, was available. He wasted no time, or money to reconstruct this place for his own delight.

Nicely done, Signor Barone.
We're all extremely pleased with how your new chapter in the story of this house turned out. It certainly conveys the sense that this house has been there a good while, with modern (1780s modern, that is) imposed on the structural bones of history. And as the good Barone and I were engaged in shifting some arches around, we agreed that it was much like a real life renovation effort involving an old seaside house in which you want to maintain the essential character and the views, but you have to make it suit modern tastes, and you find yourself bumping into elements of earlier renovations and coping with choices that previous builders made.
It's certainly not simple to achieve this kind of very successful outcome: you never know what you're going to find under the walls and floorboards; it always takes longer than you think it will; and at some point, inevitably, something will go catastrophically wrong (Thank you Sere for fixing those textures)
It rather reminds me about the old joke in which a lady decides the best way to begin restoring her historic house is to start by burning it to the ground. Yes, it is easier to start over, but where's the fun in that? And the outcome can be so much more appealing, as it was in this case with the Barone Rushcliffe's excellent project.
And I trust that you and the Baronessa will take good care of the bees.
