It’s been a very productive time, harvesting, crafting, planning, and building so it was lovely to take a well-deserved break with Catherine and Louise. We sipped tea, ate pie, and chatted about everything and nothing at the same time. It was one of those impromptu moments that are absolutely delightful!
Sere and I also had the wonderful experience of touring Thomas Richard Betterton-Cave’s beautiful home. It’s truly fabulous in its design and attention to detail. I did think, however, that I heard mooing coming from the arcade but surely my senses must just have been overwhelmed by the visit.
Meanwhile, here’s what’s been happening over the past two weeks.
Bienvenue
A warm welcome goes out to CoreyAnders Silverwood who, together with Candace, is making his home in Millhouse. While Candace is busy with her bees and the mill, Corey will be rowing the waters in his role as our new fisherman. His arrival is most timely as our supply of fresh fish is greatly diminished due to the Mediterranean component of the Household Management Challenge. Look for his upcoming vendor in the QH Market.
We also welcome the return of Viscountess Una Conan to the Queen’s Hamlet. It is rumoured that she has taken an interest in an upcoming business venture and we look forward to seeing how her plans unfold.
Events
Drop by for an hour of community crafting in the Queen's Hamlet Market on Saturday October 17 rd, 10am.
Geared for apprentices and master crafters alike, this weekly community event explores different foods and helps to develop new crafting skills.
The Apple Festival will have its final day Sunday October 18 th . It’s rewarding to see how many apples have been put to good use in pancakes, pies, and hard cider! As for the Apple Bobbing competition, Corey is currently in the lead!
A month-long Cheese & Wine celebration is slated to start Saturday October 24 th . Stay tuned for more details as we look to diminish our lake of milk turning it into lovely cheeses.
For all upcoming events see Living History Events .
Household Management Challenge (HHC)
Congratulations to Candace who completed the special, apple related, challenge! She even ventured into the world of distillation to make a lovely bottle of Apple Brandy. She joins Tat and Mikhail in the ribbons. Well done!
Welcome to Corey as he tackles the challenge of working for his daily bread!
The apple challenge (labelled as S1_sep26 or S2_sep26) will remain on the challenge board a bit past the end of the Apple Festival to give people time to finish it.

1783: Your Roleplay Story
Given that many of us are adopting 1783 as our current roleplay year, I’ve created a space for us to elaborate and share our characters’ background stories. Please feel free to get to know our community members and to add a few works of your own.
The Crimson Rose – An [AoR] Quest
I’m delighted to announce an upcoming quest! Meant to make use of our sleuthing skills it will be revealed in small chapters allowing us to enjoy an extended journey through our roleplay history.
There is still much to do before the adventure can begin but, in the meantime, you can visit a brand-new street in the town of Clairvaux . Stop for tea at le Café Fleur or have a pint at Le Corbeau. I wonder what could be happening in the Parfum d’orient at the end of the block? Looks like someone is just setting up shop there.
If you have any stories, photos, achievements etc. that you would like to share with the community please send them to me for inclusion in the next newsletter.
Cheers!
Tat
