QH Fresh Food Market Days? What do you think?

QH Discussions

I'm wondering if people would be interested in having Fresh Food Market Days where we sell perishable items for coins?

I'm looking for ideas that are both fun & easy and I thought a weekly? market event might help with that.

Lots of people like to fish but not everyone wants to go through the bother of packing their catches and you can only cook so much seafood for yourself.  I also miss selling fresh milk but have been having a hard time figuring out the logistics.

Off the top of my head I was thinking that we could designate Saturday & Sunday for "fresh" food sales.  My current definition of "fresh" is anything that has at least 2 days before expiration but I can probably be convinced otherwise.

The easiest way to sell for coins is through vendors - though if people wanted to announce times that they were actually at the market that might work as well.

The Co-op would be interested in buying seafood and could sell fresh milk and verr meat (on occasion depending on when the poor verr crosses the rainbow bridge).

What do you think?  I'm open to all kinds of ideas :)

Finding and Defeating Texture Lag?

Off Topic

Region performance is always a fascinating subject (to me anyway) though I'm afraid that I've forgotten a lot of the particulars over the years.

I don't believe that I've ever actually had a lot of lag caused by textures.  For the most part they sometimes just grey-out for a bit without effecting overall performance.  It sounds like you've been keeping a pretty close eye on them, res-using etc. so I'm wondering if it might be something else.

There use to be a problem when a region ended up sharing a server with other "over consuming" regions.  Don't know if that is still a problem but it was sometimes fixed by doing a restart that subsequently bumped it to another server.

I'm also wondering about the complexity of objects you have - you wouldn't be using a lot of sculpties or tortured prims would you?  Sculpties are/were wicked in some cases because they only counted as "one prim" even if they had a ton of vertices.

Just some thoughts off the top of my head.  Looking forward to seeing other suggestions.

Good luck!

TTR: Louis XVI "Zen" Chair Vignette

House & Garden

I'm a bit late getting this out into the world as RL delighted in throwing a lot of obstacles in my way.  In any case, here's a whole lot of zen :)

TTRLouis XVI Zen Chair Vignette MP 01.PNG

This bohemian twist on the classic Louis XVI Chair makes you happy just looking at it!

Fresh from the RFL Home & Garden Expo where I believe it generated a bit of good karma by helping to raise money for cancer research.

Zen boasts a frame of carved light oak; a cheerful silk, mandala back; and velvet chair seats. Touch the chair back to select from the four different seat fabric colours (Pink, Purple, Green, Blue).

Outlander

Book Lovers

I enjoyed Joan & Michael's story as well, Merry.  She certainly has some unusual talents.  I'm also interested in hearing Master Raymond's full story.  DG has promised to get to that at some point.

Outlander

Book Lovers

Seven Stones to Stand or Fall: A Collection of Outlander Fiction was just released this week!

q?_encoding=UTF8&MarketPlace=US&ASIN=039

A magnificent collection of Outlander short fiction—including two never-before-published novellas—featuring Jamie Fraser, Lord John Grey, Master Raymond, and many more, from #1 New York Times bestselling author Diana Gabaldon

“The Custom of the Army” begins with Lord John Grey being shocked by an electric eel and ends at the Battle of Quebec. Then comes “The Space Between,” where it is revealed that the Comte St. Germain is not dead, Master Raymond appears, and a widowed young wine dealer escorts a would-be novice to a convent in Paris. In “A Plague of Zombies,” Lord John unexpectedly becomes military governor of Jamaica when the original governor is gnawed by what probably wasn’t a giant rat. “A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows” is the moving story of Roger MacKenzie’s parents during World War II. In “Virgins,” Jamie Fraser, aged nineteen, and Ian Murray, aged twenty, become mercenaries in France, no matter that neither has yet bedded a lass or killed a man. But they’re trying. . . . “A Fugitive Green” is the story of Lord John’s elder brother, Hal, and a seventeen-year-old rare book dealer with a sideline in theft, forgery, and blackmail. And finally, in “Besieged,” Lord John learns that his mother is in Havana—and that the British Navy is on their way to lay siege to the city.

Filling in mesmerizing chapters in the lives of characters readers have followed over the course of thousands of pages, Gabaldon’s genius is on full display throughout this must-have collection.

I've been anticipating this release for months now, teased as I was by DG's published snippets.  I found it most enjoyable, especially since it filled in a few blanks in my Outlander world knowledge.  I especially liked reading the story of Minnie & Hal in "Fugitive Green".

Now if she would only get around to finishing "Bees" ....

We Wear Culture

History

Wow! Check this out!

Quartz: Wearable Culture

Google’s latest project may be the most widely accessible and comprehensive fashion collection on the planet. All you need to view it is an internet connection.

“We Wear Culture” is a collaboration between Google and more than 180 museums, schools, fashion institutions, and other organizations from all parts of the globe. It’s part of Google’s Arts & Culture platform, which is digitizing the world’s cultural treasures, and functions as a searchable guide to a collective archive of some 30,000 fashion pieces that puts “three millennia of fashion at your fingertips,” Google says.

But it isn’t just a database. Google has worked with curators to create more than 450 exhibits on different topics—say, how the cheongsam changed the way Chinese women dress—making the site an endlessly entertaining, educational portal filled with stunning imagery touching on everything from modern Japanese streetwear to the clothes worn at the court of Versailles.
