You're feeling pretty comfortable with your everyday activities, time to branch out and learn some secrets!!

Knowledge is often difficult to acquire and learning these secrets is going to take some effort.

Required:

• Study Book (purchase at G&S )
• Study desk (located in the Office )
• Papyrus scrolls of various levels
• Candles
• Coins
• Time

Gather your materials (papyrus & candles may be purchased in the Office) and rez them near the desk. Rez the specific book to study

Sit at the desk & load the materials.

Study

For those of you that like to multitask, it's possible to cook meals at the same time by moving your camera over to the Kitchen

Note that if you do not use you knowledge for a period of two months you will lose it (dang!!) so choose your secrets wisely.

STUDY BOOKS:

There's also a secret Master Lumberjack Axe in a bottle that's available as a catch in Tuna Tournaments.

So what will you try first?! I still can't decide but I'll be saving my coins until I do!

Whatever is supplied by the Co-op (cart, table, stall, wheat field etc.) does not count towards a member'sLI.

The members's LI is calculated from EVERY object (water barrels, goats, chicken coops, whatever) they own on the region of Provence Coeur Est. The Bonus is subtracted fromthat total LI.

Examples

• A Farmer has2 water barrels and 7 vendor boxes. Total LI of 9 minus the Bonus LI of 10 = -1 so they don't rent any extra.
• A Farmer has a goat, a feeding trough, 2 water barrels and 15 vendor boxes. Total LI of 25 minus the Bonus LI of 10 = 15 which they rent.

The Bonus is there so that people will continue to help with things like community watering by placing out water barrels. It also helps people get established as merchants with a few products.

The Queen's Hamlet Market is a place to buy/sell items that have been produced by the Queen's Hamlet Co-op members either in the Hamlet itself or in other associated Historical Communities using the G&S system. Items may ONLY be sold for G&S coins as the QH Estate Manager reserves the sole right to sell for L$

QH FARMERS receive a free Bonus LI=10 which includes all objects rezzed in the Queen's Hamlet including the Market

QH REGULAR MEMBERS receive a free Bonus LI=5 which includes all objects rezzed in the Queen's Hamlet including the Market.

-- CART RENTALS --

A Cart is an excellent way to sell a limited number of items using your Bonus LI. See what's currently available or contact Tatiana to have one set up for you.

-- STALL RENTALS --
A Stall allows you to expand your selection. Your Bonus LI will be IN ADDITION TO the LI rented.

A Stall may have it's interior customized:
-Supplied benches may be removed
-Sisal carpet may be removed
-Tables may be supplied

Rental rates are L$15 per LI per 4 weeks with a minimum 4 week period and a minimum LI=15 rented.

Currently all stalls have been set as follows:
L$225 is a rental of 4 weeks with LI=15 + Bonus LI

Contact Tatiana to arrange for a larger LI.

If you're just starting out and can make due with your Bonus LI, rent the stall/cart and contactTatianato adjust the LI count and refund your money.

Manufacturing Cheese

One of the best things about having goats is the abundance of dairy products they provide. Here's a look at what's involved in the manufacturing of cheese.

While cream & butter can be made with the stove/churn, cheese is produced by using a "factory" which is located in the Winery .

This operation has been automated to run 24/7 and produces one wheel of cheese every three days. Each wheel of cheese requires 30 units of milk. The finished wheel is then identified via a manual process with our own custom QH Label.

It's not tricky, it's just a long elapsed time.

Cheese can be produced for those members participating in the Adopt-a-Goat program.

Please contact Tatiana to get into the rotation. Thirty units of milk will be required and the delivery date of your wheel of cheese will depend on the number of people taking advantage of this program. If we really start falling behind we can always purchase a second cheese factory but my guess is that it will be fine for now.

Unfortunately, because of the time lag it doesn't make sense to produce cheese for members "sans goat". It's just easier for those members to buy the ready-made product.

How To: Buy Coins with L$

Sometimes it's unavoidable, you just have to have a few more coins. Here's how to acquire some role-play cash with L$.

The exchange of L$ for Coins is a two stage process that is conducted in the Office .

First you must buy a "Chest of Gold" from the vendor on the left. The chest costs L$8 and contains 20 gold pieces.

Now rezz the chest and SELL it to the Mint by touching the desk on the right and selecting the Sell option.

The current rate of exchange:

1 gold piece = 25 coins as displayed on your HUD

so you will receive 500 coins for your investment of L$8.

Don't spend it all in one place!!

Behind-the-Scenes Strategy

Wheat farmers have the means to slowly bring money into our economy but as their total number is limited we also need a way for new members (artisans, tourists etc.) to join in the fun.

This money exchange process is meant to facilitate our economic growth in a controlled fashion. Flooding the economy with money would take all the fun out of the "game" as would having to wait six months before inviting new members so we're trying to strike a balance here.

Where do the "Chests of Gold" come from?

We've acquired a Gold Mine. They're actually surprisingly hard to come by (bravo to the G&S creators for keeping things in check) and are limited to 100 sessions. Each session delivers a basket of gold with between 5 and 20 pieces. These baskets are then turned into the Chests of Gold.

The L$ paid for the gold helps to recover the money spent for the Gold Mine.

Once our economy really gets rolling, gold will be acquired with Co-op Coins.

Who can buy a Gold Chest?

Anyone can purchase gold with L$ BUT there will be a limited supply. Perhaps a limit of one chest per member is a good-rule-of-thumb?

If you are committed to making your fortune totally on your own (without the use of L$) more power to you.

We'll keep an eye on the situation and adjust accordingly.

These Hosting Challenges are open to all Queen's Hamlet Co-op Members. You must serve food & drink that you've either prepared yourself from Hamlet ingredients, purchased from a QH Member and/or purchased from the QH Co-op.

Good food, good wine, good friends; you think that there's nothing better than combining them into an event to remember. Here's the list of requirements for the Bronze Award:

• Host an event highlighting Hamlet food & drink
• Event theme is up to you - a dinner party, a picnic, wine tasting ... it's all good
• Event size is up to you - from 1 to 100 guests
• Event location is up to you - use your residence or contact Tatiana to use Hamlet grounds
• Have fun!
