Westboutin Chaussures - New Designs and New Boutique!

Marketplace Archive ** CLOSED **

Bonjour Mesdames et Messieurs!

Following my grand opening earlier today, here are a selection of the new Westboutin designs currently being offered in my new boutique in Ville d'Aquitaine

LA COEUR

Two Provenal styles inspired by the coeurs, both in toile de jouy lawn with striped silk bows, in Rose de Provence and Bleu d'Aquitaine

L'ARTOIS

A fine calf leather style, with classic talon rouge and diamond-studded Artois-style buckles

LA BROUILLE HAUTE FANTAISIE

As the name suggests, this is a fantastical version of my 'A la Brouille' style ~ and the first of a new range of high fantasy shoes, perfect for masquerade or more daring courtiers! This style has a frill of feathers at each side of the ankle, and full peacock plumage at the front, along with an oval sapphire-studded buckle.

All available at Westboutin Chaussures:

In Ville d'Aquitaine - http://slurl.com/secondlife/Aquitaine%20Coeur%20Nord/205/99/35

On Marketplace - https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/57664

AND A PREVIEW!

COMING SOON ~ XVIII Sicle for him, and her!

A celebration of the rococo era, and also of the 18th Century Store ~ where these shoes will be exclusively available! Just in time for the holiday season, these shoes are offered as mod/trans, enabling you to replace the diamond-enclosed miniature portraits with those of a loved one (or yourself!) and give them as a gift.

More news soon!

~Trefusis Designs~ 2 Winter Gowns

Marketplace Archive ** CLOSED **

They really did have fake fur in the 18th century, and it was made of silk that was tufted to resemble fur. I've only ever seen one coat made from it - and it's discussed in the film 'Unzipped'. It's kind of fabulous that the fake fur probably cost far, far more than the real fur because the hundreds of hours of labour involved in its creation.Lucky for you ladies, Sophia keeps her costs down!

What Rococo item would you love in Second Life?

Marketplace Archive ** CLOSED **

I think banned may be the wrong term - men had to wear a sword at their hip (they would not be admitted within the palace if they did not), and a walking-stick as well would be cumbersome. I also think walking-sticks were generally only used by the old, thus if you used one you looked as if you were old/crippled. That chaanged in the 19th century when people stopped wearing swords (probably because the sword was seen as a symbol of aristocracy). I will do my research and get back to you if I can find other reasons! What I do love is that men were only allowed to wear military costume on the day of their return to court (after battle, campaign etc) and the day before they left. This was to promote the French silk industry - if noblemen couldn't wear military costume they had to buy a court suit, which had to be made of French silk.

Apparently, walking sticks for men were banned at Versailles, and women would only use them if they were infirm! Those odd little rules of etiquette amaze me.But parasols and fabulous fans are a must - the idea of a fan scripted for different moods is a superb one. Imagine a seductive fan, an agitated fan, a lazy fan, a nervous fan - fabulous!
