Happy 10th Birthday Antiquity

Communty News & Events

Greetings Antiquity

On July 7, 2007, Antiquity had its grand opening. That day, 10 yrs ago, started not just a group of regions, but a family that has endured. We have lived, battled and had fun together, bringing special bonds of friendship over those 10 years. Of course, special thanks to Grand Duke Gregg Barrymore and Grand Duchess Angel Magellan for founding Antiquity. Your vision of a balanced Victorian community, grew into a vital area for period regions. Thanks go as well to Duke Nikoli for his leadership in the middle period, and to the current owners and Admins for their constant fighting to keep us going.
Little did the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess know, that the fire of family they lit in so many people, continues to burn for Antiquity inside each of us. Over the years, Antiquity has seen many people pass through our lands. Governors, Admirals, Generals, Pirates, Builders and just down right friendly folk, have come and gone over the years, and they have made Antiquity richer for it. Old friends, have come back to visit, wanting to touch back on their roots in Antiquity and new friends have come and settled, slowly growing our family.
One last thought, that makes my heart warm with pride, to this day, we still have many of the old people still here with us today., they were here during the time of the founding and are still here today. Thank you for your continued love and support for Antiquity.

Ten years is a long time, so planning a proper celebration also takes time. Planning committee with meet this weekend and celebration details will be released asap. I would like to try for the first week of August, so we will see what the consensus is. All are invited to participate.

Meeting will be at 10am SLT Sunday in the Texas House Chambers.

I would also like to extend an invitation to all who have ever lived, played or visited Antiquity, to take time over the next few weeks, to come and visit, see all Antiquity has to offer. There are 15 regions, with 3 developed levels with tons to explore.

Thank you again for your continued support.

Happy Birthday Antiquity

Reflections on ten years.

Social Announcements & Introductions

Where has the time gone.

Today, as I celebrate, 10 years in Second Life, I would like to take a brief moment, to reflect on the years gone by.

There is no way to over estimate, the impact Second Life has had on me. Coming from a small ranch town, Second Life has offered me, a simple ranch boy, way way to communicate and form relationships with people from all over the world, a platform to experiment and create on a level I could have never imagined.

The true blessing though, was this small gem of a location, called Antiquity. From the first day I visited, with Grand Duke Gregg and Grand Duchess Angel, I knew I had found my home. I never left. Over the first 5 years in Antiquity, i was able to meet and befriend some of the most amazing people.

On that day, we got word, that we had 3 days left before Antiquity closed, and we started a marathon fun raiser, who knew what would happen. Not only did the Owners and Admins come together, they worked and donated to help me and Tocho keep antiquity going for all these years.
We still have pretty much the same Owners and Admins. We have stuck together and it has brought us closer.
Looking back, my heart, full of love, for all the people I have met and my Antiquity family, that means so much to me. It is all my friends and family here, that keep me so dedicated to Antiquity.

My life would be so much more diminished were it not for you. For when it is the darkest, I look around, and remind myself, of the multiple blessings I have, in the friendship i have with each and every one of you. Your give me courage every day, and for that i will be forever indebted to you.

My family, I love you with no bounds, and that is the Gods honest truth.

Here is to another 10 years....Of living, learning and loving.

Thank you my friends.....my family

I love you with all my heart.

Jacon

Going Home

Communty News & Events

Greetings

A few years ago I moved into Buckingham Palace to dedicate my time to the construction of the palace.  Now that the Palace is mostly done, mostly being the key word, it is time to return to my home.  The remainder of the construction will be finished with the same dedication as the rest, but i will commute to work.  Prince George will be happy to have his "some what drunk" and "constant whiner" Uncle Jacon out of his home and the saw dust off the floors.

With that said, it is with great pleasure that I announce my return to my beloved home, Chateau de Clagny.  Many may remember this Chateau and the beautiful gardens that surround it.  No words can describe the joy and happiness that the return of this Chateau brings to me.

Work has begun to uncover the furniture, polish the floors and dust the chandeliers to prepare for it to take its place as a royal household.  The grandeur of this amazing Chateau shines bright in the forests of the Antiquity Region, Le Royaume de France.

I would like to take a moment to give my un endless gratitude to my dear Cousin,  His Majesty, Louis Francis de Beauharnois, King of Florin, for his amazing gift to me of Chateau de Clagny.  This Chateau, has a special place in my heart, as Cousin Louis built it for me, so that we could be neighbors.  The work on the construction and textures of the palace are of exceptional quality.  It is really an amazing build and Antiquity and Second Life as a whole are richer for its return.  Thank you so much Cousin, you do not know how happy you have made me.  If you have not see the amazing work of His Majesty King Louis, please look here now and hold your jaw.

Kingdom of Florin

Most of the first floor and all the gardens of Chateau de Clagny are open to the public.  There are a few private apartments that should not be entered.  Visitors are welcome, but please keep in mind that we are still preparing the Chateau.

We have more news coming out of our "Bath England" project that will be released very soon, so please stay tuned.

If you have never visited Chateau de Clagny, I will post some photos shortly.

I look forward to Clagny working into the rotation of prime roleplay locations in SL.  Together with other great estates represented here on LHVW, there are some amazing homes, manors and palaces we have at our disposal to utilize for fun. It is my hope that we can meet soon and discuss ways at expanding cross estate roleplay and see if we can strengthen our period community so we can start growing our ranks again.  Also, working with everyone to create a tour of the locations within our estates that have historical significance.  Based on a RL historical event or historical buildings.  I mentioned to my Admins, I do not want Antiquity to be just another pretty face.  Yes I want it to be beautiful and alive, vibrant, but I also want it to be deep, and have substance underneath all the physical beauty.  All the regions and estates, great houses, manor and palaces of LHVW are not only beautiful, but they serve to help educate people on customs and dress of some really trans formative eras for fashion, art, politics, science and architecture.

Thank you all again ...and now I am off to keep dusting...:)))

'Victoria' Is About To Become Your Biggest Non-Guilty Pleasure

History

Ahoy.....well wow...who stole our Buckingham?...where to start ....I just watched it last night and I must say it is a pretty good show so far.  I was struck by the exterior of Buckingham and how similar it is to our version.  When Twelfth first told me she had seen it, my first thought was....omg....we should be able to see the rooms as they were before Victoria did any redecorating and adding.  When she moved in, William IV had just passed and he hated Buckingham so never lived there.  It would have been just as John Nash had envisioned.

I will have to watch it again, as they move from room to room...so I can get my bearings.  I do see a red throne room.  I really would love to get it closer to the original version.  I did though come across an article on the set design.

From set designer Michael Howells, "“There's not much early reference to what the interiors of Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace were like,” he says. “We had to go on the style. We decided to pitch it more Georgian and Regency so that it's still minimal and quite formal.”

Seems we were not the only ones that ran into this problem of finding what the interior looked like when it was finished during William.  I do remember being told once there was a book with the descriptions of each of the rooms.  I could have sworn something about the Blue Drawing Room being red and black.

All in all i am already hooked.  Besides the Prime Minister, who I agree is swoon-able, I only have eyes for the palace so far.  Yay...:))
