Courts and Sims

Communty News & Events

I had a conversation with someone about this yesterday. I hope for all the best with the various courts (i.e. drama-free!). Silly question (or suggestion?) but which Courts are "opened" for participants, and reserved only for the ruling dynasty?

Dating with lady death on 1793

General Discussion

It's so interesting, almost comical, to believe that after the regicide of the 1790s the French would restore the monarchial system not once or twice but FOUR times (five, if you include the return of Napoleon after the Bourbon Restoration, and it would've been a sixth time if a suitable candidate was found after the fall of the Second Empire).

I hope I die of old age or broken heart or something. If not, I guess I will die defending the Tancarville estates from those damn revolutionaries!

What are you Reading?

Book Lovers

Right now I'm reading a series of books (for my thesis), but the ones that have been 'enjoyable' were Beauty, Sex & Power: A Story of Debauchery and Decadent Art at the Late Stuart Court and In Fine Style: The Art of Tudor and Stuart Fashion. Although my paper is really looking at several categories of items in the Royal Collection (and other museum collections), I really like the way monarchs and nobles 'performed' through imagery.

Service Businesses & Industries

General Discussion

And now for another discussion (blame the coffee and/or working late-night)

I will be the first to admit I am not so talented in creating goods. With the development - and, in my opinion, growth - of roleplaying economies in locations like Versailles and Coeur I begin to wonder if theres any hope of development service-related businesses and industries?

In my honest opinion I do think it is possible. But it would involve a great deal of more roleplaying on the part of members. After all, Versailles was not the cleanest palace in Europe and I am sure doctors were called upon constantly to cure ailment (and, perhaps, take care of those who were poisoned). Great, noble families hired accountants to manage their financial books; lawyers were called upon to finalize marriage arrangements and defend contracts when broken. Notaries affixed seals to business negotiations, and, among the most urban settings, owners of coffee houses and tea salons spread the news of the known world.
