The revolution .... and all those useless death, I am glad I am not in the list ... as I died in 1815 as it seems the years 1815-1820 were sad for my family all my sisters and cousins died around that time.
My dear aunt the dowager marquise de Fiennes and my ever so absent parents died all three in 1794 victim of the scaffold though. I suppose the younger generation tried to convice them to run away to Switzerland or Italy ... but didn't succeed.
Luckily all this is still much in the future ....
That is a very lovely idea .... but you should also try to encourage designers for male clothes, there are only a few ... and maybe to encourage clothiers, you can offer to the best one the title of "Couturier du Roy"
Great article indeed, very interesting, but I noted a little mistake, the marquis is above the comte in nobility, mainly because in the middle-ages the marquis held a march, that is land on the border of a sovereign state, and were more at risks that other comtes.
I enjoyed reading your post. This is very informative.
