History
Yes Merry, salon art wasn't pretty and it ruled for a long time.
Tiamat, Of course you will, I would think this is a big consideration, students as there are many, and as I've said before, it was library studies that introduced me to SL, and here I've stayed with such a committed view of it as an information platform - but for reasons I've whinged loudly about (and that's the clunky feeling that I saw with the SL viewer -LLgiving us their idea of functional, and I'm totally with Jessica Lyon here), I can'timagine even entertaining SL 2 beyond being momentarily entertained by a bit of uber cool mesh. It needs to be open sourced to keep me around but I think they are thinking more about huge numbers being less satisfied than smaller numbers and having agreat grass roots aesthetic.
I despised their idea of the SL viewer - ugly, impersonal, top down thingthat I refused to be patronised with, so I'm probably going to have a very bad response to a corporate platform now, I have an aversion, and thats not just being a little sentimental over my 170,000 item invo, it's that I loath, LOATH an aesthetic based on advertising.
THINK BIG exactly. BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY work on it. Make it work. Why does Microsoft occupy the position it does? Because we trust the backwards compatibility they work hard at. Remember the trusty MYOB business management? If you used this a few years ago you now cant access your business information. And that is a bad memory I wouldnt go near a software provider with the sort of track record that LL are heading towards making. Long term you need trust from your users and this is how things flourish, not jumping from one opportunity to another. I think its lacking as yet in foresight.
Gorgeous photography Claudia, like400 year old water colour paintings. I LOVE. Thank you for your thoughtfulness as always.
