This astonishingly rare and high-quality film shows the trip of a bunch of Italian emigrants as they make their way to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Don't think we would see anybody willingly emigrate to Rio in modern times.

While watching the video, I was astonished to see them lowering and lifting people in that wicker basket like cage to and from the ship ..... um noooo I would be terrified. A very cool film though!
