2846_discussions.jpg?width=750 I am pleased to offer some rentals for the Winter months on Dominica... Fort Shirley is an historic fort on the real life island of Dominica. The French and British fought over the fort for many years...as well as contended with the natives of the island. If you have never visited Dominica, you will notice I have placed photo cards around the island with historical content embedded into them. Dominica has a rich pirate legacy. In fact, the Pirates of the Caribbean movies were filmed on the island. Check out the pirate museum inside the Pirate Lair. Do notice the artwork in the fort while you tour... they are real scenes of life on Dominica painted by Agostino Brunias.

These rentals were furnished for renters that are new to the Antiquity community. All are welcome! They are good starter homes for those wanting to take their time in finding more permanent housing. The apartments are furnished in period. Dance intans are located on the island for resident use. You are welcome to rez your ship off the pier and go for a sail. Just remember to clean up when you are done. Great vacation rentals!

If you are interested in starting a roleplay at the fort, please contact myself or Crotian Resident. We are open to sailors, military, or traders... The governor's office is located inside the fort and may be used for roleplay purposes. The island also features a public sewing room and kitchen for all to use.

Hope you will stop by and check the rentals out! Or just come for a historic tour of the island and enjoy the photo cards!

Here is a list to guide you in your travels.

The Pirate's Lair - Hideout for the Pirates of Antiquity. Dominica has a long legacy of piracy over the years. It was also the location for several of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films. Enjoy the lair if you dare! Be sure to bring your pistols.

The Cabrits Garrison - I nspired by the historic garrison at Fort Shirley, the fort is the headquarters and main defense post of the British army on the north-west coast of Dominica.

Fort Shirley - Construction of the fort began under the direction of Sir Thomas Shirley, Governor of Dominica (1774-1778) after whom it was named.

Dominica is famous for its natural beauty. The waterfalls and streams are the most popular attractions for the island.

Victoria Falls - Enjoy one of Dominica's grandest waterfalls!

Dominica Rainforest - Inspired by the rainforest of Dominica.

Mermaid Cove - Inspired by the natural beaches of Dominica.

Stone-Age Ruins - Dominica was first inhabited by the stone-age tribes called the Igneri who travelled from the Orinoco River in South America to the Caribbean in 3000 BC.

Travelling through the chain of islands in the Lesser Antilles, the island Caribs, also known as the Kalinago, later dominated the island of Dominica in 1000 AD. Because of the tall mountains, the Kalinago gave the island the name Waitukubuli, which means tall is her body.

Champange Reef - Inspired by the real life waters of Dominica, Champange Reef is famous for its bubbling volcanic waters. The reef is situated in Mermaid Cove off the Mer Path of Antiquity.

Enjoy! Fair Winds :)

What a lovely way to welcome someone new! These are so cozy and such great value, I'm almost tempted to move there myself. But the Caribbean still holds my heart. ( ;
