I stumbled on your store in Philomenaville by accident, and it looks very pretty!
Either the new world will become the standard over time, and SL will reach its inevitable end, or.. the new world will become a failure, because it will fail to attract an audience other than the SL audience, and SL will continue its existence. I think it will go either one of those ways. I think a lot of us, or at least I do, know Second Life mainly from the enormous hype that surrounded it in 2007 (?), I doubt the new world will be able to generate such popularity again. I am not saying it will happen after a week or so, but within a certain timeframe it will be likely to happen. LL will continue to work on SL, but the other world will become their main priority.
I also wonder what will be so 'different' about it. I think the concept is still the same, but more adapted to current technologies, such as that oculus rift thing. What I am very curious about is the pricing they will have in mind for this world. I think it would be hard for LL to attract a new audience other than the SL audience with same or higher prices. And with prices, I mainly refer to the price of land. Such prices have quite naturally grown in SL, whereas in this new world they will still have to prove their value.
I don't think anyone feels tempted to start from a blanko page, but a sinking ship will eventually go under, and then you have no choice!
