I would like to add a little modification, the french titles in order :
1 Duc
2 Marquis
3 Comte
4 Vicomte, Vidame
5 Baron
6 Baronnet
7 Banneret
8 Chevalier
9 Page
10 Ecuyer
The Marquis title in the french nobility is higher than the count title. In France, the Marquis' office was complete, the one who defends a Marche/Marquisat of the Kingdom - A fief that is on a frontier of the Kingdom -. So his duties and ofice are similar to the ones of a Duc, he can manage several County that are under his Marche.
