18th Century Medical Treatments: The Cough of the Lungs.

Bloggers' Corner

What? The Signora Panacek does not like the house snails? Does she prefer the yard snails then?

As for the treatment, it could be worse. Ask your good husband the Doctor about standard treatment for resuscitating drowning victims. It involves tobacco, but not at the end you expect.

Royal Courts Ning: ♥ 2012 Fundraiser ♥ Mission Accomplished!

Site News & Guidelines

Very good. I think that's a splendid idea, spreading it out through the year. Perhaps some of us can periodically provide some reminders in a fun sort of way. I can envision getting into some wagers (cards? fencing? water polo?) with Signor de Verne and Signor Gandt in which the winner then puts his winnings into the donation pot.

Well done, Tatiana. Glad it has worked out. Will the donation panel be left up in the same place for us to make contributions throughout the year?

Call for "Actors"

Social Announcements & Introductions

Cittadini e Amici!

We have been in the process of planning an innovative theatrical experiment for Melioria: the presentation of scenes from the controversial 18th century play "The Marriage of Figaro" by Pierre de Beaumarchais. We are at the point that we need to recruit movement actors and a stage manager. Rehearsals will be in June-July and first performances in mid-July.

The following roles are available for "movement actors" -- players who take part in presenting the play by moving their avatar around the stage, using specific poseballs and animations at certain times to match with recorded dialogue that will be streamed into the sim--no actual acting, reading, or writing of dialogue in chat or voice is required

Personae:

Count Almaviva, Spanish nobleman

Figaro, servant to Count Almaviva

Countess Rosine, wife of Count Almaviva

Suzanne, servant to the countess, betrothed to Figaro

Doctor Bartholo, who wishes revenge upon Figaro

Don Bazile, a music master

Cherubin, a Page, enamored with the Countess

Marceline, a woman enamored with Figaro

Beuamarchais - the playwright

******

We also need a stage manager who will have the following responsiblities:

Stage Manager: (in SL production)

1. Attends all rehearsals, recording the stage action for future reference.

2. Makes certain all Actors know when rehearsals are scheduled

3. Works closely with the Director

4. Runs the production on the day(s) of performance, which involves:

  • Giving the signal for the start of the show, making sure all actors are there and accounted for.
  • Prior to the show, checking the stage and that all pose balls and animations are working properly
  • Making certain all Actors are present
  • Making certain all Actors are in right places for entrances during the show..
  • Making certain all Actors have the appropriate props for the scenes.
  • Making certain the stage set gets changed between Acts.
  • Liaises with appropriate persons if there are technical difficulties during the show.

********

If you would possibly be interested in volunteering for this project, please contact Aldo Stern by this Friday, May 25
