I’m delighted to report that the last two weeks have been a whirlwind of activity!

Candace, our miller, had to deal with a weevil infestation in her old-stock wheat supply.  This has been dealt with, and we can guarantee there will be no extra protein in her fine flour.

Louise, our newest member, ran into a swarm of bees.  Thinking fast, she coaxed them into a lovely hive in her yard where they are now happily pollinating the orchard next door and providing her with some tasty honey.

Mikhail, poser that he is, used up the last of the Castile Soap that was available at Countess Ekaterina’s market stall.  Fortunately, she has agreed to provide more, though her task has been made difficult by a series of unfortunate events.  Fingers crossed that all goes well for her from now on and we will be able to once again improve our hygiene with her lovely products.

Speaking of infestations, Rich apparently had a passel of poultry invade his stately home! When he spoke of creating a new kitchen I don’t believe he had the running of livestock in his halls in mind.

Bienvenue

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Louise Marie Thérèse Bathilde (LouiseBathilde Sapphire) who has taken up residence in the Queen’s Hamlet and has taken to [AoR] like a duck to water.

Farmer + Miller + Baker = Bread & Pasta Production Chain

Thanks to John Theophilus Rawdon, Candace Ducatillon, and Jeni for banding together to complete our Bread & Pasta production chain.  I for one am looking forward to buying all my bread and pasta locally (as opposed to buying from that overpriced Myriam) from now on!  Look for their vendors in the QH Market.

Upcoming Events

Drop by for an hour of community crafting in the Queen's Hamlet Market on Saturday October 3 rd, 10am.

Geared for apprentices and master crafters alike, this weekly community event explores different foods and helps to develop new crafting skills.

Bayside Baroque will have its inaugural concert in its new location, Sunday October 11, 10:00 AM

Join us for an hour of delightful baroque and early classical music hosted by Ael Aeon at the  Pavillon de Musique en Provence Coeur

The Apple Festival continues until Sunday October 18 th so there’s still a chance to get your name on the Leader Board for the Apple Bobbing competition.  Candace is currently in the lead!

For all upcoming events see Living History Events .

Perhaps some expenditure on a storm-proof chicken coop would be a prudent investment?

Dureza is a local wine of Provence i.e. its plonk Wink    If a supply of Guarnaccia. the Rocca Sorrentina wine, can be secured we will alternate months for the challenge.  I don't believe that there's any other wine in circulation at the moment but should there be that could become part of the rotation as well.
