VERSAILLES GAZETTE No.19: Royal household appointments?
HRH Madame Adelaide displayed her usual attitudes towards the courtiers, whom she invited for a dinner in her apartment. She overtly expressed her complaints about the Queen and her household's manners in the presence of two of Her Majesty's ladies-in-waiting Princesse de Roquefort and Marquise de Tourzel. But what is this? Madame Adelaide has expressed her wishes for Mlle d'Olliers (unknown to HRH, a bourgeois!!) to become a Dame d'atours de Madame Adelaide in front of the honoured guests.
How will it unfold, we wonder? What will happen when the royal aunt, known to stick to the strict court etiquette like a magnet, learns that the Mlle she took a liking to is in fact an unmarried bourgeois girl??
