GRAND OPENING FOR THE ROYAL COURTS FENCING GROUP!

Last Sunday was held the first meeting of the new Fencing Group in Royal Courts.

After the previous Concert, the delighful music of Mr Zeid's violin was still lingering in our minds, when we arrived, one by one, near the Languedoc Tavern fencing pistes.

Soon, we realized the success of this little meeting was beyond all expectations!

Not only most members of the Fencing Group came to compare their skills, not only did we have the pleasure of welcoming quite a few non-fencing residents whose curiosity was aroused, but also we were graced by the presence of our hosts, The Duke and Duchesses of Coeur, as well as honored by the attendance of many Imperial and Royal Highnesses and Nobles of High Ranks, from the Courts of Versailles, Venezia, Austria, Schleswig...Even one very good fencer from another part of SL showed up to challenge us, and her skills helped us to forgive her..hum..strange outfit:)

Pardon me if i cannot mention all names, as I intended to, but we were so many!..and I would dislike to forget anybody.

A lot of duels took place (and we would have had many more, if we had not been limited by the number of pistes available)...These fights were so fiercely funny, or so amusingly wild!

But the main satisfaction was the friendly atmosphere and joyous mingling of this social event, where different Courts, different social conditions (from Kaiserin to Peasant Girl) and both genders gathered in the excitment and fun of Fencing, this fixture of ART DE VIVRE in our era !

Wasn't it a good illustration of Enlightened Ideals?

We will do our best to tighten a bit the organization of our next meetings, without losing the loose informal and friendly feel that is part of their charm.

We thank all attendantsfor sharing these moments, and hope we will meet them again soon, on, or near the Pistes!

EN GARDE!

I am so pleased, My Lord Myron (Cheri) ... that the event went beyond your expections. Had I been able to attend, I would have been delighted to 'quill' the names of all those present for your records ... however, as you have already stated, they know who they are and have been duly thanked by yourself. If anyone who did attend take any photos, might you post a selection for the group's posterity?Kind regards again to all who supported this event in the wonderful Duche de Coeur, and we look forward to welcoming you again.Lady Candace d'Acadie ~En Garde! It certainly was an exciting first event, Lord Myron. Thank you so much for hosting it. It was wonderful to see so many people from the Royal Courts attending, especially the women who were there to take up the challenge :))I was a bit concerned that my play wouldn't be quite up to the task, it was such an event filled day after all, but it turned out that I was very lucky in the end. That's one of the things I like about En Garde, a little bit of luck can make up for skill in some cases.I'm certainly looking forward to the next event.Tatiana, Duchesse de Provence
