Originally describing a turban-like, large headdress from the 15th century in Italy. It was a ring or rounded form rising up at the head, covering the hair of the wearer.
In Renaissance period and specially in Italy, feminine beauty was given by a high forehead, very light or almost absent eyebrows and what was called, Venetian blond hair (caramel), was very much appreciated.
