Villa Vesuviana - Rosso (1788)
With the arrival of Magritte, and the revival of the Queen's Hamlet, the G&S system for farming and such has taken a flight. The House of Rezzonico has joined in too some months ago now. Apart from some trade in commodities, we have found two other suitable features for our family's rp: banking and vintning. The latter has resulted that I set out a small laboratory vineyard on the island of Rocca Sorrentina. Here I experiment with genome strains to create the perfect grapes for our wines, some have already been developed, like a white Pinot Grigio and a fortfied vermouth (Vermut di Bassano), and our Prosecco Spumante has even won a prize already. From the start it was an idea to develop two specific wines for the island. Although Rocca Sorrentina isn't expected to dive into G&S, a suitable addition to the island's fame wouldn't hurt. And as the island is situated in the Bay of Naples what better choice than to follow the line of two major grapes in the Campania region: Aglianico (red) and Fiano (white).
And so, in between my own grape projects, I reached the first result for these: An Aglianico wine (AG-AK-GD) that is described as: A dense red wine with aromas of wood and spices, and nuances of citrus and almonds. It seems a good typing as the first barrels reached reserva status, and the following four even grand reserva.
To honour the history of the island the wines have been named after the villa, and the label has been designed with the coat of arms, bearing the characteristic bees, in mind. I present to you the 'VILLA VESUVIANA - ROSSO (1788)'

Very happy to hear of your vinification adventures, Abbondio. You've certainly put a lot of thought and care into your vineyards. Also love your barrel labels
