Dolce d'Oro | The Plantation
Some weeks ago I decided the Banco Rezzonico would invest more often, and a new sweet trade was just what we needed. The sugar trade was flat on its back for a long time, but with all new developments it seemed worth the investment to lay down some fields and start planting sugar cane. In Brunswick Colony is now my plantation Dolce d'Oro with a regular produce of sugar cane. I hired an outlaw with particular skill to growing sugar, and he runs the plantation in my absence; and with irregular inspections, like today, I find all in order and most gloriously looking.
The cane can be used for distilling rum, but it can also be milled on the spot to become brown sugar - a much needed ingredient still for cooking and for distilling alcohol, the latter rapidly becoming the new liquid gold with all perfume makers and doctors. Sweet golden times lay ahead for this investment!
