TTR Content Copybotted & Imported to Sunlight-Grid

General Discussion

Good idea. Many of our most creative minds are frustrated and disillusioned, and naming-and-shaming is certainly deserved by those who we know are content thieves.

If Sunlight Grid is able and willing to take effective action, perhaps we should communicate that fact to Linden Labs, along with a description of the effective action that has been taken.

Perhaps we should also ask the Lindens what value we are really receiving for our money in Second Life when obviously they are NOT doing everything possible to look after the legitimate interests of their clients. They may need to have pointed out that there will be less and less motivation for any of us to move to SL2, when we already have good reason to believe that our creative people will not be appropriately supported by the same Linden Labs leadership, and that we also have less motivation to stay in SL1 when we have evidence that our creators are being cared for more appropriately elsewhere.

Theft in SL

General Discussion

Two of our administrators in Antiquity have taken on the responsibility of helping Jacon to ban bots as they are named to us or identified by us. We are actually going so far as to ban first, rather than double-checking suspicions. If anyone is banned inappropriately in the process, they will have to apply to our administrative team. It's contrary to the common law principle we have tried to follow - innocent until proven guilty - but the situation really does seem to warrant the stricter standard.

Theft in SL

General Discussion

I'm very disappointed that anyone would blame a sim owner (someone who has effectively subsidized the creator's pleasure by providing space to create and show off his creations), for the actions of some selfish git who can create new and unsuspected alts in endless numbers whenever he or she pleases.

The only way to prevent all possible copybotting is to move to a private little grid and bar everyone who isn't a personal friend - potentially a very lonely way to experience virtual worlds. (Well, assuming that no competent hacker has enough interest in the person's creative outbursts to bother finding a way in.) Barring that, as Tatiana has pointed out, the creator is the only person who can follow up with any real hope of success on breach of copyright issues, via the DMCA process.

We play whack-a-mole a good deal in Antiquity, mostly in connection with griefers. We would need a much larger admin team, with much more time, to deal with all possible copybotting avs as well - and we'd all need telepathic powers, too. "Innocent until proven guilty" is still a key principle, and if all our actions are driven by suspicion, all we'll manage to do is suck all the joy out of our virtual existences.

Update on Buckingham Palace

Communty News & Events

Being a tactile and visual person, one of the great delights for me has been watching the texturizing of the whole piece. As some of you will have noticed via the embroidered inserts of her delightful Edwardian tea-gown designs, Twelfthnight has a remarkable talent for bringing to life the beauties of antique artisanerie within the Second Life context (and Crotian and Jacon have decided knacks in that line, too!)

Over the past months I've found myself dropping by the build just to bask in the wallpapers. The chinoiserie, for instance, is to die for...(and since you can see only a small hint of it in the second photograph above, you'll just have to visit to see why it has such an impact on me!)

If you find yourself desperately missing the weasels, my dear Mlle. de Sade, we have a healthy plague of them in the grove near our villa in Mont Saint Bruno. They are not white, but they are every bit as lively (having been scripted by the same hand.)

All that, and it was fun, too! And I still need to do a proper job of exploring the aerospace area.

And naturally your seamstress has even less knowledge! I trust that you do not have too much competition for her quick service.

Decades Festival: Please be a greeter!

General Discussion

Hm - OK, I think I succeeded in entering the full window during which I can make myself available. However, I can be available for a maximum of three hours during that window, not for the whole of the window.
