International Talk Like A Pirate Day 2015

General Discussion

Yarr, as a sailor myself, I couldn't resist responding to this thread, so here goes... when entering "Lucerius Zeffirelli, I got:

Cap'n Sully Rotmeat

*LOL* Kind of has a nice ring to it though. :D

Smuggling scenario -- conclusion

Communty News & Events

A great scenario, Don Aldo. As a result of a successful mission, His Majesty's Naval and Revenue Service of Napoli did indeed award my Order, aside from the agreed upon contract payment, the Revenue Cutter San Valentino itself... although I would have to recruit an entirely new crew to work the riggings. Once that is done, I will station her in and around the Bay of Naples to continue the mission of defending the waters against piracy and smuggling. May the people of Rocca Sorrentina be at peace, for my men are on the job.

the wreck

Communty News & Events

As any good captain knows, nobody in their right minds would sail through a violent thunderstorm willingly. Especially one such as myself. The good ship San Valentino had been one of the vessels that took shelter within Castellemere Di Stabia and will be returning to Rocca Sorrentina to finish the mission as well as to seek out survivors.

Traveler Challenge: An Exciting, New Quest

Communty News & Events

Can anyone spare a little hint for riddle no.8? I searched both markets rather thoroughly(at least I think I did) to no avail... maybe it's time to get some spectacles.

Shared Seas: Sailboat Race - Too much fun!!

Communty News & Events

Don Mercurio, I accept your friendly challenge and am looking forward to seeing how well you sail. So be it then, the First Heat it is. Madame Dokuchic, please set my respected challenger and I to this time slot. May Poseidon bring us calm waters and may the four winds blow us swiftly to the finish line.

Outing My Alt ~ Hugo Dieter ~ by Lady Leena Fandango

General Discussion

Lady Fandieter ;)

Glad to see that Signore Hugo will still be around :) I still owe him a sword lesson or two... The offer still stands for Hugo(and Leena too if she likes) if you want to do some "manly man" testosterone-charged "He-Man Muscle" Hair-on-gorilla-chest adventuring on the High Seas(or maybe the dark illegal underworld in your case) for character development :P

Shared Seas Adventurers - "Navigator" Challenge Added!

Communty News & Events

In terms of weaponry related challenges that allows one to get their demolitions urges satiated, yet still adhere to the "non-violent" policies of the land, you can buy exploding barrels or other floating targets. I've got some SPD compatible floating powder kegs that work rather well and are a lot of fun. I believe I may have bought them from Le Grenier du Chateau, however there are other brands available. There is also a self-sailing target ship called "The Sitting Duck" that sails in circles until sunk. Cannons can be acquired for free on the marketplace... do a search for "Aleymart." Sharpshooting competitions can also be done with the use of practice dummies... perhaps stationed in and around the fort, for instance, with firearms shot from a floating platform, such as a ship... or vice versa.

The Masks of the Carnival of Venice: The Bauta

History

Another version of the Bauta I just found just now. Too good not to post: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_YPhxOzTWMVA/TGqY6XOEvXI/AAAAAAAAADU/f8DhQ...

And Leena, this is the inspiration for my own version that I was telling you about that day... this was the double faced "bauta" from the movie Amadeus: http://s3.amazonaws.com/bo-assets/production/attachments/17272/original/amadeusblurayreview.jpg?1278319245

The Masks of the Carnival of Venice: The Bauta

History

Very informative essay on the Bauta. I enjoyed reading very much. Here is one of my favorite pics of the bauta costume on the web. It's a little more fancier, with a gold mask and lacier tunic: http://club-3t.ru/uploads/posts/2010-02/1266759919_gold-bauta.jpg

...And since we're on the subject of the Venice Carnival, here's something I posted a few months ago. I'm posting it again just for fun: Vivaldi - Four Seasons (Winter)
