A neverending site: Versailles

Communty News & Events

I do share Sophie's " impatience" to see a SL Royal Chapel in Versailles, and if I may add a suggestion, you should absolutely build the SL Royal Opera of Versailles too! it's a jewel !

(...adding ten more years to your schedule,ahahaha... in the meantime, I'll explore the holes, with your kind permission :-)

It reminds me a story Tatiana told to some of us during a Coeur Fair last year:

" Lock both your spouse and your dog inyour car trunk, then come back two hours later, to unlock it and free them: guess who's the one so happy to see you again!"

O Tesso Casa Comercial Real de Lisboa - Trading in second-hand Court goods

Marketplace Archive ** CLOSED **

I perfectly understand and share the ethical point of view expressed by Tatiana, Duchesse de Provence, even if I am not a merchant myself.

Historically,in 18th century France, Noble Ladies and Gentlemen, when they wanted to clear their closet of their worn out or outdatedclothes, gave them to charity, or had their valets and chambermaidssell them to "regrattiers".

The "regrattiers" were people who bought second-hand 'anythings'( clothes, but also remnants of food, etc...) to resellthem with a little profit.Usually, regrattiers had no shops of their own, they went from house to house, or from shops to taverns,to buy and sell.

Their profession, already in those days, wasgreatly criticized for its lack of ethics ( See for instance Louis Sebastien Mercier in LeTableau de Paris), but from a historical RP point of of view, thiscould be considered as a valid activity, except for one thing: regrattiers werenever nobles, far from this! they were rather considered as the dregs of society.A Marquise would never even THINK of entering such an unaristocratic enterprise, nor buying anything from it.

Of course, by this reply, I only intended to shed alittle historical light on this profession, and in no way to judge it:SL gives usa wonderful freedom ( and therefore the responsibilities that go with it) , each one can decideon his or her own how to use it :-)

Opinions Please....Events' Times and Days-We all want to Party!

General Discussion

Bonjour!

I am SL time+9 (Paris, France). Mylogging-intime is usually 12 to 3 pm SL time (it means 9 pm till midnight for me), mainly on week ends, sometimes during the week.

It's a fascinating pleasure to meet here people from all over the world, North or South America, Europe, Asia, Australia...andpeople from all age groups, all family situations, all professional or business occupations, and to share a little time with them! but we have to face the consequences:we all have different working schedules, somekeep their week end, in part, for their family, some others even have to sleep sometimes:-)

I was sorry in my beginnings here whenI missed some events: but I realized we cannot attend to all of them, andIamhappy if it allows other Courtiers to take part!

Anyway, it's a good idea, chre Princesse,to post this: according to the answers, it could help the present and future organizers of events to sharpen their schedules according to their aims.

Please accept my congratulations, as I remain

your humble and devoted servant *bows deeply*

ANNOUNCING a new Group in Royal Courts: The MCIR WHHQEWKRW

General Discussion

On the spur of the moment, creating this new group seemed the obvious and necessary thing to do, but I am not so sure, now. Thinking twice, I wonder if it's worth it: I know us, guys, I know how it would end.

At first the gents in their 'men only' room filled with the smoke of cigars and vapors of alcohol would be relieved not to hear about frills and laces, gossips and royal weddings and such, and they would have fun telling jokes, but after a while, hearing behind the walls the crystalline feminine laughtersin the adjoining room would attract them irresistibly ( though they would not care to show it too much), and one by one, they would go out of the room to join the Ladies.

Yes, you Court Ladies are so pretty, witty and charming, you are so full offabulous ideas and feelings, and so talented! As in the past in RL 18th Century Courts, you really are the flesh and blood, the spirit and soul of all the Courts, thestuff that our dreams are made of. As different as you all are from each other, together you are like a galaxy of stars in our skies.

We love you so much, stay as you are, please,EVEN in times of royal weddings:-).

Therefore I declare this Group of MCIR WHHQEWKRW closed before it even opened.

( Nonetheless, I keep its statutes in my files, for a possible later use, for instance in case of an urge to create the AYMC WRTHAMARWXH -Angry Young Men atCourts Who Refuse to Hear Anything More Aboutthe Royal Wedding of X... and Harry).

Who could resist such an insistent and almost desperate prayer, and refuse shelter to the charming Contessa? Not me!

We are not a sect nor a misogynist club...We count you in, Nimue!
